Updates from Siemens Mobility, FreightCar America and Bombardier

• Siemens Mobility received a $249.1 million order from Munich City Utilities for 21 C2 type underground trains, which feature "environmentally clean, low CO2 technology," according to a prepared statement. The agreement includes options for an additional 46 trains that could be exercised between 2016 and 2020. The total value of the order, including options, is $741 million.

• Within the next few months, FreightCar America Inc. plans to begin production of 162 heavy-duty steel ballast cars for an "undisclosed customer," according to a prepared statement. The 110-ton capacity cars will feature automatic doors with a remote-control and solar-powered activation system.

• Bombardier Transportation received a $271 million order to supply an additional 51 BOMBARDIER TALENT 2 trains to Germany's Deutsche Bahn AG. In December 2013, 36 three-car and 15 four-car trains will enter service "in and around Leipzig" on the Mitteldeutsche S-Bahn network, according to a prepared statement.
