The Utah Transit Authority (UTA) is getting closer to firing up the first FrontRunner train. The agency plans to open the commuter-rail system on April 26.

The 44-mile, eight-station line will run from Weber County to Salt Lake City. UTA will charge $2.50 for a one-way base fare and 50 cents for each additional station, up to $5.50.

The authority currently is in the environmental phase for a FrontRunner extension south from Salt Lake City to Provo. The extension is scheduled to open in 2012 or 2013.
