Utah receives second FTA grant for University Line
advertisement
Federal Transit Administrator Jennifer Dorn April 1 announced that a $13.8 million federal grant had been awarded to Utah Transit Authority for its University Light Rail Transit Line.
The 2.5-mile long line would extend from the North/South LRT line in downtown Salt Lake City to Rice-Eccles Stadium at the University of Utah. The existing University LRT line, which opened in December — one year early and within budget — includes four stations and five light-rail vehicles.
FTA August 17, 2000, executed a Full Funding Grant Agreement with UTA for the $118.5 million University line project; the current grant marks the second installment.
