VIA Rail Canada revises Brockville station design

VIA Rail Canada Inc. recently revised its design of a proposed passenger-rail station in Brockville, Ontario, to incorporate suggestions by area residents.
After consulting with Brockville residents in meetings held during the past several months, VIA Rail officials changed the station's design to be "more reflective of a traditional railway station and more attuned to the historic character of the city," VIA Rail officials said in a prepared statement.
The new design contains elements consistent with other eastern Ontario public buildings, while also incorporating modern, large track-facing windows to allow more natural light to enter the building and provide an optimal view of the platform.
VIA Rail now will begin the project’s next phase: developing formal plans and design specifications. Construction is slated to begin in 2012.
