VIA Rail implements Internet Wi-Fi service

This week, VIA Rail Canada Inc. launched wireless Internet (Wi-Fi) service onboard trains, in several stations and in Panorama lounges along the Quebec City-to-Windsor corridor.

The service combines satellite and cellular communications, and Wi-Fi technology to provide Internet access.

The service will be offered to all passengers between Montreal and Quebec City, and in many VIA 1 class cars between Montreal and Toronto. By year end, all VIA 1 and Comfort class passengers will have access to the Internet on all VIA intercity trains in Ontario and Quebec.

The service is provided under a five-year partnership between VIA Rail and program management firm Parsons.
