VIA Rail Canada Inc. on Feb. 28 issued a request for qualifications (RFQ) to find a co-development partner for its Dorval hub project.

The Dorval station renovation is part of the next phase of a broader project aimed at integrating its operations with public transit services in greater Montreal, in one location, to offer passengers a more seamless experience, VIA Rail officials said in a press release.

Responses to the RFQ are due May 9.

As part of its VIAction 2030 strategic plan, VIA Rail aims to become a leader in integrated mobility. The Dorval project is part of that effort, with the goal of integrating the various operators in the metropolitan region on a single site in the west of the island of Montreal.

For the project, VIA Rail will work with the Autorite regionale de transport metropolitain (ARTM) to ensure that Dorval station project will benefit the transit system of the entire Montreal area, VIA Rail officials said.
