Rail News: Passenger Rail

VIA Rail to adjust schedules

advertisement

Beginning May 1, VIA Rail Canada Inc. will change several train schedules in Quebec and Ontario based on feedback received from passengers and a train operations performance review.

A train running from Montreal to Quebec City will depart Montreal at 6:20 a.m., 40 minutes earlier than the current schedule.

VIA Rail also will add a stop in Trenton Junction along its Ottawa-to-Ontario line, and adjust schedules on its Sarnia-to-Toronto line so morning and evening trains will leave later to improve connections to other trains.

In addition, the agency will extend late-night service between Toronto and Kitchener to London, and operate a new evening train from Stratford to Toronto on Fridays and Saturdays.

Between London, Brantford and Toronto, VIA Rail will add a Friday night-only train.

Finally, the agency will offer earlier departures from Toronto to Niagara Falls, and a new mid-afternoon service from Niagara Falls to Toronto.
