recently announced plans to discontinue its International service between Chicago, Michigan and Ontario, revising the service to travel only between Chicago and Michigan. But passengers who rely on the Ontario portion of the route still have a travel option — VIA Rail Canada Inc. plans to take over the Sarina-to-Toronto service.

Trains will depart twice daily to and from Sarina and Toronto. The all-Canadian operation will use recently refurbished VIA Rail equipment, and offer snacks and beverages.

VIA Rail passengers can expect to see improvements in on-time performance, since cross-border inspections will not be necessary, according to a prepared statement.
