advertisement
On Friday, VIA Rail Canada Inc. unveiled design plans for an improved and expanded station in Cobourg, Ontario.
The $9 million project calls for restoring the historic station, upgrading the facility, and adding a new island boarding platform and overhead footbridge. Construction is scheduled to begin this year.
The station project will be integrated with other VIA Rail infrastructure improvement projects, including a $300 million project designed to expand and improve track between Montreal and Toronto.
Last week, VIA Rail also unveiled design plans for three other Ontario stations in Windsor, Belleville and Brockville.
