VRE obtains FTA funds for additional station parking

The commonwealth of Virginia will receive a $4 million in grants from the Federal Transit Administration (FTA).

Potomac & Rappahannock Transportation Commission (PRTC) will receive a $1.97 million grant to complete the design of 1,100 parking spaces at Virginia Railway Express’ Burke Center Commuter Rail Station.

Combined with previous funding, the Burke Center parking project now has received $2.5 million in FTA funding.

PRTC plans to use the remainder of the $4 million grant to purchase additional buses.
