Yesterday, Virginia Railway Express (VRE) announced it completed the second phase of the Quantico Bridge project.
The four-phase project includes a new double-track bridge over Quantico Creek to improve service on the agency’s Fredericksburg Line. VRE, the project’s contractors and CSX Transportation, which owns the line, recently connected new track, and installed new switches and signals along the bridge.
Construction on the bridge began in September 2004. The entire project is scheduled to be complete in spring.
