Valley Metro next week will hold a meeting April 19 to update residents on vehicle design plans for the Tempe Streetcar.

Project staff will be on hand to answer questions and record public feedback. Agency staff will discuss the public art process and that project's next steps.

"With the designer, artists and construction contractor on board, design plans for the Valley's first streetcar are moving forward," agency officials said in a press release.

Construction on the $186 million Tempe Streetcar could begin late this year, with the system opening in 2020, according to the project's website.

Valley Metro's rail board in January named Stacy and Witbeck Inc. construction manager for the streetcar.
