advertisement
As part of an ongoing effort to reduce operating costs, the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) recently approached vendors to reduce their prices on current contracts.
Last month, authority officials sent a letter to vendors asking them to grant the agency a 4 percent price reduction. To date, many vendors have agreed to price concessions that will save CTA up to $1 million in 2010, according to the agency.
CTA officials plan to continue vendor discussions to determine if additional savings can be gained through contract concessions.
