Virginia rail department proposes six-year transportation improvement plan
advertisement
The Virginia Department of Transportation and Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation (DRPT) recently unveiled a draft six-year improvement program for fiscal years 2010-2015.
The $7.4 billion program is down $1.5 billion from a revised FY2009-2014 budget approved three months ago, largely because DRPT transitioned the Dulles Corridor Metrorail project to the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority, saving $776 million. In addition, the new program reflects $650 million in cuts to the highway program.
