WMATA begins emergency preparedness campaign
advertisement
Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority, U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Federal Transit Administration, American Red Cross and the American Public Transportation Association launched a program designed to help residents prepare for emergencies that could affect their commute.
The campaign encourages people to prepare contact information, designate a family meeting location, learn alternative modes of travel and practice riding alternative routes to get home or to work.
The agencies plan to provide information recommending how people should respond if an emergency occurs while they’re commuting.
