WMATA begins search for permanent GM

The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) has begun a worldwide search for a permanent general manager. Richard Sarles currently serves as interim general manager.
The agency has contracted executive search firm Heidrick & Struggles to begin a national and international search within and outside the transit industry, WMATA officials said in a prepared statement.
WMATA’s board has set a goal of selecting a GM within the next six months.
