WMATA contracts LAZ Parking to assist in parking lot payment conversion
advertisement
Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) recently awarded a $3.1 million contract to LAZ Parking Mid-Atlantic Inc. to assist customers who park in the authority’s lots while WMATA converts its parking payment system to SmarTrip only instead of cash.
The 13-month contract includes three one-year options. LAZ customer assistance representatives will respond to customer inquiries, ensure the SmarTrip vending machines are operating properly, monitor the parking lot faregate/arm, conduct customer surveys and alert Transit Police of any cars that park overnight.
The SmarTrip-only payment system will go into effect June 28. Currently, about 75 percent of people who park in WMATA’s lots use SmarTrip cards to pay daily parking fees.
