WMATA plans Orange Line station improvements
advertisement
Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) recently recommended a construction contract for the first phase of access improvements to Ballston Metrorail station, located on the Orange Line in Arlington County.
The $10 million project includes renovating the eastern end of the station, installing three elevators and connecting an underground passageway.
A second phase would include installing a new entrance and escalator, mezzanine, passageway and elevators on the station’s western end.
WMATA plans to consider the contract at its June 19 board meeting. If approved, the authority plans to award the contract by year end, and begin construction in early 2004.
