WMATA seeks feedback on Tenleytown-AU Station area improvements

The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) is seeking public input on proposed improvements to the area near the Tenleytown-AU Metrorail Station in northwest Washington, D.C.

Building on previous recommendations, the study team developed three alternatives to improve the property to better accommodate all transportation modes, WMATA officials said in a press release.

The suggested improvements will focus on the area east of the station entrance at the northeast corner of Wisconsin Avenue and Albemarle Street. WMATA and the District Department of Transportation own the property.

Each of the three alternatives includes better crosswalk design and disability access, with curb cuts at crosswalks and more bicycle racks. The proposals also call for expanding sidewalk space in front of 40th Street to provide a better plaza for pedestrians.

The agency is holding an open house April 23 and will continue to accept online feedback through May 2.
