WMATA to gauge performance in new monthly report

The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) recently introduced a monthly performance scorecard, which will be posted online to enable the public to monitor the agency’s service.
The “Vital Signs” scorecard will include key performance indicators, such as rail on-time performance as measured by headway adherence; escalator and elevator availability; rider and employee injury rates; and crime rates.
“The report is an important part of Metro’s plan to improve safety, customer service, reliability and financial stability,” said WMATA Interim General Manager Richard Sarles in a prepared statement, adding that Vital Signs will help ensure managers are accountable for “what’s working, what’s not working and why.”
