The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) will host a public hearing March 19 on proposed projects and federal grant applications for its fiscal-year 2014 capital improvement program.
The $875.3 million capital investment plan is focused on improving safety and reliability, and rebuilding the system by replacing infrastructure, facilities, equipment, systems and technology, rail cars, buses and paratransit vehicles, WMATA officials said in a prepared statement.
The proposed program assumes $452.8 million will come from federal sources, $371 million from state and local sources, and $51.4 million from other sources, they said.
Program project elements would include rail-car replacement and rehabilitation; rail infrastructure rehabilitation; systems and technology upgrades; track and structure improvements; and maintenance equipment.
