Washington parking garage changes its stripes
advertisement
In an effort to increase parking capacity, Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) is restriping the Franconia-Springfield Metro Station parking garage. When complete, the six-level, 3,856-space garage would accommodate 153 additional vehicles.
WMATA anticipates a two-month completion for the $150,000 project, which includes the addition of 28 metered spaces at the garage’s high-occupancy-vehicle (HOV) lot.
Parking in the HOV lot costs 25 cents per 90 minutes, over any 12-hour period from 5 a.m. to 2 a.m. Parking in the HOV lot for the maximum allowable time would cost $2, compared with $2.25 to park in the garage itself for any length of time.
