Washington state DOT seeks input on proposed multimodal projects

The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is soliciting comments on its proposed four-year program of multimodal transportation improvement projects.

The draft 2019-2022 Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) includes 1,500 projects using $3.9 billion in federal funds.

The STIP features state, local, tribal and public transit projects, which include improvements to highways, streets, roads, railroads, transit hubs, park-and-ride lots, bridges, sidewalks, bike lanes, ferry terminals and trails funded with federal, state, tribal and local revenue sources.

Federally funded projects must be included in the STIP before Federal Highway Administration or Federal Transit Administration can authorize the expenditure of federal funds, WSDOT officials said.

WSDOT will accept comments through Dec. 21.
