The Federal Transit Administration recently awarded a $3.2 million grant to the Southeastern Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission to conduct a study on a proposed commuter-rail route between Kenosha, Racine and Milwaukee.

The 33-mile line would serve the cities’ downtowns and connect the areas with outlying communities, and relieve congestion and provide connections to large employers, such as SC Johnson and Sons Inc., DaimlerChrysler Corp. and Case-New Holland Corp.
