Las Vegas Railway Express Inc. announced it's negotiating with the city of North Las Vegas, Nev., to establish a station for the proposed X Train that will run between southern California and Las Vegas.

After reviewing a number properties for a station in southern Nevada, the site in North Las Vegas "suits our needs perfectly," said Dianne David Barron, Las Vegas Railway Express' director of real estate, in a press release.

The railway is in final negotiations with the public agency and property owner, she said.

"Until all the agreements are approved by the mayor and council and signed, we cannot disclose the details of the Vegas X Train Station," said David Barron. "We look forward to all agreements being executed and making a formal announcement this summer."

Under development for the past several years, the X Train is "a major milestone in returning passenger rail travel to the southern California/Nevada corridor," railway officials said.
