Chris Daloisio [AGE 33]

President
Railroad Constructors Inc.

The railroad industry is the only business Chris Daloisio knows — and it's the only business he wants to know. As president of Railroad Constructors Inc., Daloisio is part of a family-owned company legacy.

Railroad Constructors is one of three member businesses of The Railroad Group L.L.C., which offers track maintenance, inspection, design, construction and rehabilitation services. Daloisio's great-grandfather founded the predecessor company in 1926, and his grandfather, father and uncle have all worked in the family business.

At age 14, Daloisio started working for the business as a laborer sorting ties and tie plates. During high school and college, he worked his way from the ground up so that by the time he graduated from Salve Regina University in 2002, he was ready to work for the company full time.

"I always knew what I wanted to do since I was a little kid. I loved the business. It's almost like it's in my blood," he says.

Daloisio also has advanced through the leadership ranks at the National Railroad Contractors and Maintenance Association (NRC). He is secretary-treasurer this year and on track to become chairman in 2017.

Daloisio's inspiration?

"My father, who has taught me so much from working in the industry."

Five-year career plan?

"Right now I'm in charge of all field operations, estimating. ... We keep expanding our service base and making sure that we can provide our customers anything that has to do with track or railroads. We are trying to expand our areas into all major U.S. markets, concentrating on the East Coast first."

An interesting fact?

"I grew up playing ice hockey and I still play every week."

His favorite pastime?

"Spending time with my family. I have a wife and three kids. We are huge Philadelphia sports fans."
