HNTB Corp. recently named Steve Rhoades senior vice president and president of the engineering firm’s Northeast Division. He will be responsible for overseeing HNTB’s transportation planning, highway and bridge design services in the company’s Boston, New York, Maine, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Connecticut offices.

Rhoades previously served as chief executive officer of the Metropolitan District Commission of Hartford, Conn. In November 2002, he retired as a brigadier general from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, where he served as commander of the North Atlantic Division based in Brooklyn, N.Y.

Rhoades held many command and general staff assignments, including chief of staff and deputy commanding general at the U.S. Army Center and Fort Leonard Wood.
