The Port Authority of Allegheny County recently announced Chief Executive Officer Paul Skoutelas will leave the agency in September to join engineering and management firm Parsons Brinckerhoff as a senior vice president. He also will serve as a principal consultant for the company’s subsidiary PB Consult.

Since 1997, Skoutelas has served as CEO of the port authority, where he oversaw such projects as the Stage II light-rail upgrade and advanced plans to expand service to Pittsburgh’s north side. Under Skoutelas’ leadership, the authority has posted ridership increases in four consecutive years.

Since beginning his career with the port authority in 1980, Skoutelas has served in various planning and corporate capacities, including deputy executive director. In 1991, he left Pittsburgh to take the reins as CEO for Orlando’s Central Florida Regional Transportation Authority. He returned to the port authority in 1997.

The port authority board plans to meet to discuss the transition process.
