WMATA names Dziduch line manager

Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) recently appointed Charlie Dziduch Blue/Orange line manager.

Dziduch will be responsible for reliability, customer service, safety and cleanliness on the two lines and their 33 stations. He will manage 630 employees, including janitors, train operators, station managers and customer service representatives.

Since he began working at WMATA as a parking lot attendant 27 years ago, Dziduch helped WMATA improve operations during snow storms and develop operating plans in case of a terrorist attack, and helped develop industry-wide operating standards for subway and light-rail systems.

Earlier this year, an outside peer review panel comprising officials from six subway systems recommended WMATA appoint line managers to help improve rail reliability. In May, the authority appointed Belynda Jones Red Line manager. WMATA plans to name a Green/Yellow Line manager by year’s end.
