North Carolina’s Triangle Transit Authority (TTA) recently appointed David King general manager, a post he’s held on an interim basis since October, when former GM John Claflin resigned. King’s contract extends through October 2009.

Prior to joining TTA, King served the North Carolina Department of Transportation for more than 30 years, most recently as deputy secretary.

TTA currently is developing a regional rail system that would run between Raleigh and Durham, N.C. Last summer, the authority removed the project from the Federal Transit Administration’s New Starts process due to changes in federal funding criteria. Officials now are exploring other funding options.
