Here's the latest news from the rail supply industry:

• The Timken Co. is adding several lubricant-delivery products, such as grease guns, pumps and kits, to its lubrication line. To be introduced in the United States this month and in Canada during the second quarter, the product line "complements Timken's ability to go beyond bearing technology and provide friction-management solutions tat meet maintenance needs," according to a prepared statement.

• Global Rail Systems Inc. recently announced it has installed two FAS-PAS systems in Ohio for the Wheeling & Lake Erie Railway to automate a passing siding, as well as a modular yard automation (MYA) switch to act as a cross-over to a third track off the siding; installed a FAS-PAS system for Iowa Interstate Railroad Ltd. at an interchange with the Cedar Rapids & Iowa City Railroad; installed several MYA switches at an Alamo Gulf Coast Railroad gravel facility; and supplied its new Model CWL-7 crossing warning system - designed to enable remote solar applications - to Ameren Energy.

• CIT Group Inc. announced that CIT Rail signed an operating lease agreement for 1,000 covered hopper cars with Canpotex, the world's largest exporter of potash, according to a prepared statement. The company will use the 4,275-foot cars to transport potash from Saskatchewan, Canada, to the West Coast to be exported globally.

• Duos Technologies obtained a $975,000 contract from a "major Class I railroad" to expand its Train Rider Detect System (TRiDS(tm)) at an undisclosed location along the Southwest border, where the system initially was installed under a pilot program, as well as add the system at a location in California. TRiDS uses artificial intelligence to automatically inspect passing trains for unauthorized riders or cargo. The security firm also obtained a contract from a "major railroad company" to supply an intelligent video system for a major rail bridge along the Delaware watershed. The turnkey solution will combine Duos Praesidium(r) intelligent video platform with an array of high-definition cameras and sensors, enabling the customer to monitor the lift bridge and waterway in real time.

• Yesterday, TTX Co. unveiled a new logo and position line that reflects the company's position in the rail industry. The new logo features the "TTX" letters in a Tuscan red color to honor the company's founder, the Pennsylvania Railroad. The logo is paired with the words "Forward Thinking," which reflects TTX's commitment to anticipating industry trends and customers' needs, and providing innovative solutions, according to a prepared statement.

• RAIL.ONE Group recently named Tilo Brandis president and chief executive officer to succeed Hans Bachmann, who will continue to serve the company as an external consultant. Brandis previously held senior positions in Siemens AG's Transportation Systems and Utomation and Drives divisions.  

• Hirschmann Automation and Control, and Lumberg Automation recently named Dr. Wolfgang Babel chief executive officer to succeed Reinhard Sitzmann, who will "concentrate on several supervisory board appointments," according to the company. A Hirschmann executive since October 2007, Babel also has served as CEO of Endress+Hauser Conducta GmbH & Co.
