William Stout recently became chairman and chief executive officer of Gannett Fleming. He succeeds Ronald Drnevich, who retired from the planning, design and construction management firm in January.

Based at the firm's corporate headquarters in Harrisburg, Pa., Stout is responsible for all Gannett Fleming and subsidiary and affiliated company operations. He previously served as president of the firm's valuation and rate division, and director of the administrative division. Stout has been a member of Gannett Fleming's parent company board of directors since 1996.

A registered professional engineer, Stout began his Gannett Fleming career nearly 35 years ago as a valuation engineer responsible for conducting studies related to utility plant depreciation and cost of service. He's also conducted service life studies for clients such as Union Pacific Railroad and BNSF Railway Co., and has appeared as an expert witness in more than 120 utility regulation and tax litigation-related proceedings.
