To realign leadership of its sales/marketing and finance departments, Kansas City Southern has named Patrick Ottensmeyer executive vice president of sales and marketing, and promoted Michael Upchurch from senior VP of financial management and purchasing to EVP and chief financial officer. Ottensmeyer had served as EVP and CFO since May 2006.
Considered a succession-planning move, the appointments “will ensure future leadership continuity while developing and retaining internal intellectual capital,” said KCS Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Mike Haverty in a prepared statement.
Prior to joining KCS, Ottensmeyer was CFO of Intranasal Therapeutics Inc. He previously served as VP of finance and treasurer for BNSF Railway Co. and SVP for Bank of America.
Prior to joining KCS in March, Upchurch was SVP of financial operations for Sprint Nextel, where he spent 16 years in various posts. He previously served Price Waterhouse in various capacities.
