The Transportation Technology Center Inc.’s (TTCI) board has appointed Lisa Stabler president of the Pueblo, Colo., research and testing center, effective Oct. 7. She will succeed Roy Allen, who plans to retire in October.

Stabler currently serves as TTCI’s vice president of operations and training. She previously served BNSF Railway Co. in various capacities, including assistant vice president of quality and reliability engineering, and was director of marketing, planning and administration for Delphi Corp. Stabler chaired BNSF’s Advanced Technology Safety Initiative Program, which redefined freight-car maintenance performance, according to TTCI.

A 40-year rail industry veteran, Allen rose from senior engineer at the former Transportation Test Center (TTC) to manager of the Association of American Railroads’ (AAR) Applied Technology Division to AVP in charge of TTC to VP of the AAR’s R&T Department. He helmed the consolidation of all R&T Department activities into TTC, which led to the formation of TTCI, according to a prepared statement.

“Under Roy’s tremendous leadership, TTCI has become the gold standard for rail research and innovation around the world,” said AAR President and Chief Executive Officer Ed Hamberger.

Earlier this month, TTCI marked its "40/25" anniversaries. Forty years ago, the center began operating as a railroad research and test facility; and 25 years ago, emergency response training services began at the Security and Emergency Response Training Center.
