Yesterday, Christopher Hart was sworn in for a second two-year term as vice chairman of the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB). He became a board member for the second time in August 2009 and a short time later was designated as vice chair by President Obama.

Hart's current term as vice chair expires on Aug. 24, 2013. He is serving a five-year term on the NTSB's board.

An aerospace engineer, attorney and licensed pilot, Hart has more than 30 years of experience in transportation safety. He previously served as an NTSB board member from 1990 to 1993, and was deputy director for air traffic safety oversight at the Federal Aviation Administration.

On Aug. 4, Deborah Hersman was sworn in for a second two-year term as NTSB's chairwoman.
