Yesterday, RailAmerica Inc. announced that Senior Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer Charlie Patterson plans to retire on Dec. 31.
 
During his nearly five years of service, Patterson effectively boosted the company’s revenue, strengthened the marketing and sales teams, and "brought focus and direction" to both non-freight revenue and industrial development, RailAmerica officials said in a prepared statement.

Prior to joining RailAmerica in 2007, he was director of sales for CN. Patterson previously was vice president and general manager of Great Lakes Fleet L.L.C. and served CSX Transportation for 16 years in various capacities, including director of sales, marketing and customer service for minerals.
 
RailAmerica owns 43 regionals and short lines operating in 27 states and three Canadian provinces.
