Port of Tacoma, Wash., commissioners recently named Dick Marzano commission president to succeed Connie Bacon, who now will serve as second assistant secretary in 2012.

Other top commission posts for 2012 include Don Meyer as vice president, Clare Petrich as secretary and Don Johnson as first assistant secretary. The port’s five commissioners serve four-year terms and officer positions rotate annually.

Marzano was elected to the commission in November 1995. A Tacoma longshore worker for almost 40 years, he previously served as president of the International Longshore and Warehouse Union Local 23 for six years. Marzano is a former member of the Freight Mobility Strategic Investment Board and currently serves on the Washington Public Ports Association's executive committee.
