Florida East Coast Industries (FECI) recently named Michael Reininger executive vice president; John Flint, senior vice president of rail infrastructure; and Eugene “Gene” Skoropowski, senior vice president of passenger rail development for All Aboard Florida.

FECI is developing All Aboard Florida, a $1 billion privately owned, operated and maintained intercity passenger-rail system that will connect south Florida to Orlando. The 240-mile line will run between Miami and Orlando, with intermediate stations in Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach.

Reininger will be based out of FECI’s Coral Gables headquarters and report to FECI President Vincent Signorello. Reininger has nearly 30 years of real estate development experience. He has served in senior management positions with AECOM, Walt Disney World, MGM Resorts and the St. Joe Co. He has spearheaded a diverse range of projects, including mixed-use transit-oriented developments and international entertainment resort destinations.

As managing partner for Union Station Neighborhood Co. in Denver, Reininger organized the master planning for the Denver Union Station transit-oriented development project through a private-public partnership.

“Mike has uniquely applicable experiences in transit station planning, project management and branding,” said Signorello. “His experience with the redevelopment of Denver Union Station translates perfectly to our station development program in Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, West Palm Beach and Orlando.”

Meanwhile, Flint will focus on designing, engineering and constructing the All Aboard Florida rail system and station platforms. He also will help manage the environmental permitting process.

Flint has more than 35 years of experience in transportation and engineering consulting, including at Conrail’s railroad engineering management training program. Prior to joining All Aboard Florida, he worked for infrastructure consulting firm T.Y. Lin International.

Skoropowski, who will be based in Orlando, has more than 40 years of railroad experience in the private and public sectors. His background includes building and managing passenger-rail projects in Boston, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, Paris, London and Amsterdam.

Most recently, Skoropowski served as director of rail and transit services for the southeast division of engineering firm HTNB. Previously, he spent 10 years as managing director of northern California’s Capitol Corridor intercity rail service. As director of rail projects for Fluor Corp., he worked with SNCF (French National Railways) to select rolling stock for one of Europe’s leading rail transportation systems.
