Florida East Coast Railway L.L.C. (FEC) recently named Francis Chinnici senior vice president of engineering and purchasing. The 351-mile regional also announced that VP and Chief Engineering Officer Robert Stevens plans to retire on Feb. 28.

Chinnici joins FEC after a 29-year career with CSX Corp., where he served in a series of positions with increasing responsibility, most recently as VP of purchasing and materials. His long stint at CSX makes Chinnici "the ideal candidate to lead these two important functions at FEC," said FEC President and Chief Executive Officer Jim Hertwig in a prepared statement.

"The increased engineering projects and capital plan with purchasing will produce positive synergies for FEC," he said.

Stevens, a 38-year rail industry veteran who has served FEC the past six years, was a driving force in the railroad's expansion efforts over the past few years and was instrumental in guiding the development of south Florida port infrastructure projects, said Hertwig.
