Tennessee Railroads Inc. (TRI) last week appointed Tausha Carmack Alexander executive director. She will serve as the trade association's primary lobbyist in Nashville.

Alexander, who formed her own government relations practice in 2010, has extensive government relations experience in the public and private sectors, TRI officials said in a press release. She began her government relation's career with the Tennessee Bankers Association (TBA), where she served as vice president and deputy general counsel, and associate counsel.

Prior to joining the TBA, she practiced law in Kingsport, Tenn., focusing on general civil litigation, insurance and civil rights defense.

TRI represents the interests of Class Is that operate more than 2,000 miles of track and employ 4,000 workers in Tennessee. The Class Is include BNSF Railway Co., CN, CSX Transportation and Norfolk Southern Railway.
