Short-line holding company TNW Corp. recently appointed Michael Gibson director of health and safety. He will report directly to Chief Executive Officer Paul Treangen.

Gibson is responsible for all aspects of the firm's employee health and safety program, including updating the safety and health plans, and operations to maximize worker well-being. He previously served as vice president of transportation safety for Watco Cos. Gibson also has served as vice president of operations for Watco's Gulf Region office, and regional general manager of  Genesee & Wyoming Inc.'s Rail Link Division. He is a U.S. Army veteran.

"Michael brings over 20 years of railroad experience and leadership to our company," said Treangen in a prepared statement. "His passion for employee well-being and safe operations will assist in developing a zero-injury philosophy with a strong culture of employee engagement."

TNW provides rail transportation logistics and operates three short-line railroads: Texas North Western Railway; Texas, Gonzales and Northern Railway; and Texas Rock Crusher Railway. TNW also is the parent company of Southwest Railway Services Co.
