San Diego transit agency hires Musgrove to oversee field security

The San Diego Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) has hired former San Diego County Sheriff's Department Captain Ed Musgrove to oversee the agency's field security and enforcement operations.

In his new post, Musgrove will supervise 200 transit officers. MTS contracts with Transit Systems Security, which deploys 165 officers for the agency. Additionally, MTS directly employs 35 code compliance inspectors. Musgrove will oversee both groups, MTS officials said in a press release.

Prior to joining MTS, Musgrove served the sheriff's department for 25 years and was the operational commander for Santee, Calif. Most recently he worked as an operations security manager for the Gemological Institute of American in Carlsbad.

"Ed has proven experience in government and private sector safety and security management," said MTS Chief Executive Officer Paul Jablonski. "Providing a safe and secure environment for our passengers is our top priority. All of his law enforcement work has been in San Diego, so he's familiar with our region and our transit system."
