Georgia short line names Broxterman president

The Heart of Georgia Railroad Inc.'s (HOG) board last week announced Duane Broxterman has been promoted to president and chief operating officer.

Broxterman joined Heart of Georgia in 2000 as partner, vice president and chief operating officer. Prior to joining HOG, he held various positions with RailTex and, later, RailAmerica Inc., where he was general manager of the mid-Michigan group of railroads.

Broxterman also spent 14 years at Union Pacific Railroad, where he worked in the engineering and transportation departments.

HOG Chief Executive Officer and Chairman Brad Lafevers described Broxterman as "one of the best railroaders I have ever known."

"Duane has been an invaluable member of the HOG team," Lafevers said in a personnel announcement.
