Operation Lifesaver Inc. recently appointed Nancy Sheehan-McCulloch and Margaret Cannell as state coordinators for California and North Carolina, respectively.

The group also tapped Sara Logan to serve as assistant state coordinator for California.

Sheehan-McCulloch has worked with the California's Operation Lifesaver for more than six years. Prior to her appointment, she served as the group's northern region coordinator, according to an OLI press release. She succeeds Pete Aadland, who retired.

"As a state with one of the highest number of rail-related incidents in the country, California benefits from experienced leadership in the Operation Lifesaver program," said OLI Chief Executive Officer Joyce Rose in a statement. "Nancy Sheehan-McCulloch and Sara Logan form an extremely strong team to further advance our mission throughout the state."

Cannell has experience in environmental engineering, economic development and nonprofit management. She succeeds North Carolina's interim state coordinator David Robinson, OLI officials said.
