Fort Worth & Western Railroad Co. has promoted Kevin Erasmus to president and chief executive officer.

Erasmus, who began his new duties Aug. 1, succeeds Steven George, who retired July 31 after 40 years of railroading.

Erasmus joined the short line three years ago as director of business development. He has 20 years of experience in marketing, sales and senior leadership in the supply chain and logistics industry.

"Fort Worth & Western Railroad is strategically located with great potential to grow, and I am honored to have the opportunity to now lead the Fort Worth & Western team to focus on the continued safety of our team, serving our customers and improving our efficiencies while expanding the reaches of our business development," Erasmus said in a press release.

Prior to joining the short line, Erasmus worked for RailRunner, a supplier of bimodal rail technology for short-haul rail applications; and Dallas, Garland & Northeastern Railroad, a subsidiary of Genesee & Wyoming Inc.
