Anacostia Rail Holdings Co. (ARH) yesterday announced that Marlon Taylor has been promoted from director of operations at Pacific Harbor Line in California to assistant vice president of New York & Atlantic Railway.

Taylor had worked for Pacific Harbor since 1999, when he joined as an engineer/conductor. Prior to being named director of operations in 2013, he also served as train dispatcher, trainmaster and chief dispatcher.

Taylor's new appointment went into effect April 18. The transition continues the sharing of best practices between ARH railroads and creates an opportunity to strengthen the New York & Atlantic's collective knowledge, company officials said.

To his new role, Taylor brings "comprehensive industry experience and expertise that will complement the initiatives and growth that we strive for," said James Bonner, vice president at New York & Atlantic.

Taylor and his family will move to New York.

"It’s not easy leaving your first railroad," Taylor said. "I've known these guys for almost 17 years. I have a lot of relationships here but I'm excited about the new opportunity in New York."

In 2013, Progressive Railroading named Taylor one of the railroad industry's 20 "Rising Stars."
