He's served on the board for two and a half years and represents Grantsville, Tooele and municipalities in Salt Lake County. McKinley is an attorney at Kirton McConkie and Fellow and has held numerous civic positions, UTA officials said in a press release.

He'll serve as chair through December 2017. McKinley replaces H. David Burton, who stepped down from the position to serve as chair of the University of Utah Board of Trustees.

Meanwhile, Jeff Hawker and Sherrie Hall Everett were chosen to serve as vice-chairs, while former Utah Lt. Gov. Greg Bell was added to the board.

Hawker has worked as an assistant city manager for Riverton City, Utah, as well as a rail projects coordinator for West Valley City, Utah.

Hall Everett joined the UTA board earlier this year and represents municipalities in Utah County. She's served on the Provo Municipal Council and is founder of marketing and online strategy firm Creative Stream Inc.
