The American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association (ASLRRA) has presented Gary Griswell with the Thomas L. Schlosser Distinguished Service Award for "long-term, significant service" to the association.

Griswell, customer success team manager-rail with GE Digital, is the first associate member to receive the award, which was presented at ASLRRA's 2017 CONNECTIONS Convention in Grapevine, Texas, according to an ASLRRA press release.

Named in honor of longtime ASLRRA leader Schlosser, the award is presented annually. Schlosser died in 2011.

Griswell has served in several capacities for ASLRRA, including as a founding member of the Technology Committee, as CONNECTIONS Convention chairman in 2015 and as a board member from 2013 to 2015. He will chair the 2018 CONNECTIONS Convention to be held in Nashville.

"Gary has been a champion of short-line railroads, supporting both our business solution needs as well as helping to advance our legislative agenda toward maintaining a level playing field and preserving the ability to remain competitive individually and collectively," said Alan Matheson, assistant superintendent, Tacoma Rail.

In addition to his current role with GE Digital, Griswell has served on the ShipperConnect team as the Shipper customer experience leader, and the customer support team as the short-line customer experience leader. Previously, Griswell worked for transportation software provider RMI for 26 years before GE Transportation acquired the company in 2012.
