Jennifer Homendy was sworn in Monday as a National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) member.

The board now has all five member positions filled. The NTSB operated with four members from April 2014 to December 2017, and with three members from January to early August 2018, when Bruce Landsberg was appointed vice chairman.

Homendy previously served as the Democratic staff director of the House Subcommittee on Railroads, Pipelines and Hazardous Materials. She most recently led a multimodal review of the U.S. Department of Transportation's drug and alcohol testing program that identified several safety gaps, NTSB officials said in a press release.

Prior to joining the subcommittee in 2004, Homendy held various positions with the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, Transportation Trades Department of the AFL-CIO, American Iron and Steel Institute, and National Federation of Independent Business.

"The NTSB welcomes the wealth of experience member Homendy brings from her extensive legislative, hazardous materials safety and transportation experience," said NTSB Chairman Robert Sumwalt.
