TransLink has appointed Michel Ladrak as president and general manager of the British Columbia Rapid Transit Co. Ltd. (BCRTC) to succeed Haydn Acheson, who will retire Aug. 15.

Ladrak has over 20 years of experience in transportation. Currently, he is managing director for Auckland Transit Metro Rail in New Zealand, which is managed by Transdev on behalf of Auckland Transport.

Prior to becoming managing director, Ladrak served as Transdev Auckland’s chief operating officer. As COO, he oversaw the almost completed transition of the fleet from diesel rail cars to modern electric units.

Ladrak began his career in the Netherlands, where he managed operations in the Hague area for Dutch Railways.

BCRTC maintains and operates the Expo and Millennium SkyTrain lines in Vancouver, as well as the West Coast Express commuter-rail service, on behalf of TransLink.
